What’s Your LURVE Affair?
“I remembered the first time when I met you in the shopping complex, it was love at first sight. You might not be as presentable as everyone else nor as famous as they are, but to me, you’re the most handsome one of all. Every single part of you spelled “yummy” in my head. I couldn’t resist myself from drooling every time I see you.
Then one day I brought you home with me. I couldn’t stop myself from stripping you bare naked and tasting you inside me. It was heaven! Never have I been so satisfied and it was pleasuring in every single way. After that day I just needed more and more of you. You were like a drug to me, and I was a very serious drug addict and I just can’t live a day without you.”
That sounds scandalous and lurvely at the same time, isn’t it? The 2 paragraphs above were taken from a Nuffnanger’s blog where he confessed his lurve affair. It was no doubt a lurve affair that caught our attention and one of our clients, LURVE. That’s why LURVE is throwing a contest just for Nuffnangers to tell them about your LURVE affair.
All you gotta do is just make your LURVE Affair public by blogging about it. It could be with anyone or anything! After all, we’re all free to lurve. ;)
Tell them how much you lurve your iPod, hamsters, Transformers toys, politicians or whatever that you fancy in your blog posts. If you can relate your story to LURVE multigrain chips, you’ll be given more points!

Standout With Tiger & Nuffnang
6th of June was no doubt one the most memorable day for Nuffnangers and Nuffies.
Why?
It was STANDOUT WITH TIGER & NUFFNANG!
Standout is no doubt a party unlike other as we’ve received overwhelming responses from bloggers all over Malaysia expressing interest to attend. In fact, IT IS the most sought after party among all the parties we had in Nuffnang Malaysia so far!!
Standout is a party sponsored by Tiger Beer in conjunction with the launch of their limited edition Tiger Beer bottles, Energy, Rise & Graphysics. The party rewards the uniqueness of individuals who dare to standout from the rest with wonderful prizes ranging from HP Notebooks, Xbox 360, Coach Handbag and many more. Thus, bloggers were encouraged to dress up as outstanding as they can in order to win the fantastic prizes sponsored by Tiger.
Nuffnangers who were invited to the party came as early as 6.30pm all armed with their costumes and of course, cameras as the event is no doubt a perfect blogging material for all.
Some came dressed up as farm animals,
some as Terrorist & SWAT,
Cleopatra,
and not to mention we had Spartans that showed what MADNESSS was and kicked through our registration counters that day.
Just as we thought the costumes couldn’t get any better, Kenny Sia showed up as Susan Boyle.
The party kicked off as planned with our two emcees addressing the crowd. This time, the ever humorous Liang was joined by the beautiful Jojo Struys to host Standout to add more spice and excitement to the party. After all, 2 heads are better than one, especially if one is a beautiful lady’s.
The crowd was addressed by Eileen Teh, Brand Manager for Tiger and Timothy Tiah, co-founder of Nuffnang before dinner was served.
Everyone who attended, were given Nuffnang dollars in their goody bags along with Tiger Beer merchandises. Bloggers can obtain more of the Nuffnang dollars by challenging each other in thumb wrestling, arm wrestling or a simple “scissors, paper, stone” game. In addition to that, Nuffnang staffs were also going around giving out Nuffnang dollars to increase the wealth of the crowd.
Why are these Nuffnang dollars important? That’s because we were having an auction to sell our Nuffnang staffs! Among those sold were Patrick, Nicholas, Yee Hou, David and our ever beautiful Nuffies. But truth to be told, what we did not engage ourselves with human trade that night. Each of our Nuffies were given a mystery prize that even they themselves had no idea what it was and the successful bidder who purchase him or her will win the mystery prize they were carrying.
Of course when it’s a mystery prize it could range from something as bad as a toilet roll..
a comb of banana..
a toilet brush
to great prizes like GSC Gold Class tickets, Armani Exchange belts and Nintendo DS Lite
A special game was also arranged that night which involved wearing a pantyhose. Unfortunately, only males could take part in the game, and the pantyhose wasn’t worn on legs. We’ll let the picture do the talking.
Participants were to engage in a Pantyhose-of-war which required them to tug each other to sit down in a chair place in front of them.
After 3 rounds of elimination, Susan Boyle (Kenny Sia) emerged victorious in pantyhose tugging. He won himself a pair of Ray Ban sunglasses for his efforts.
Then it was time for us to shortlist the best dressed standouts in order for us to crown the Standout King and Standout Queen. All of them were asked to perform in order to impress the judges. Some of them danced,
performed a bridge in a dress,
while Susan Boyle (Kenny Sia) flashed herself.
After that performance, the judges sure made their decisions as we proceeded to Prize Giving.
Kevin Chan from hamletshero.blogspot.com delighted us with his Spartan conquest at One Utama and the judges were thrilled by their conquest as well. He was no doubt the Standout among standouts and for that he was awarded the Most Eccentric Blogger Award and walked home with a new HP Pavilion Notebook!
Chang Lih Ren from backtothisworld.blogspot.com was deemed a standout but not quite there yet to be in league with the former and thus he was awarded the In-Need-of-Self-Reflection Award! He brought home a mirror and a TGIF voucher worth RM100 for his self reflection needs.
Joseph Lee from thejosephlee.com was crowned the Standout King as his costume as Edward Scissorshand stood out the most among all the finalist. He brought home an Xbox 360 for his efforts. Let’s all pray that his scissorshand doesn’t cut controllers when he uses them.
See Pin from pinkporkchop.blogspot.com was crowned Standout Queen due to her outstanding effort to standout with her dress. For that, she is now a new owner of a pink Coach Handbag.
For our other finalists who didn’t get crowned, they were awarded the Pacifier-Sucker Award to console them. Each of them were given a pacifier, a baby bolster and Topshop vouchers worth RM100 for their efforts.
After the prize giving, the party came close to the end but the fun didn’t stop then as a surprise was next for someone deary to our community. It was Timothy Tiah’s 25th birthday on the very same day and everyone surprised him when we brought in a birthday cake for him.
He was also wished by many other Nuffnangers in a unique way. They plastered paper notes all over him with their wishes on it which turned him into a paper note mummy that finally stood out in the party compared to his initial coat and shirt outfit.
All in all, it was a great party which we’ve definitely enjoyed putting up for Nuffnangers and we certainly hope that you enjoyed it as much as we did. Look forward for more in the near future from Nuffnang and Tiger as the fun will not stop here.
Check out the Tiger Beer Facebook page for all the photos taken during the party. Feel free to tag yourself or your friends in it and spread the news. You may also use these photos in your blog. Do checkout who made it into the Tiger Hall of Standouts(coming soon!) who will enjoy eternal recognition.

Hands On FTW (For The Win)!!
Education is no doubt a very important part of our lives. The last time we checked, we spend almost 15 years studying and learning. However, there are many other ways to pursue education and while some just pursue it only through books, many agree that you can learn much more by having practical sessions which emulates the real life scenario of problem solving.
One of our esteemed clients, Taylor’s University College recognizes this and has implemented Hands-on and project-based studies into their engineering programmes. While normal undergraduates are generally exposed to open-ended research projects only in their final year, engineering students at Taylor’s are allowed this opportunity from their very first year. Every semester, they are required to work in groups and apply engineering principles to come up with a solution to a problem or design a new product, which will then be showcased at the Taylor’s Engineering Fair. Hence, the engineering undergraduates learn not just in the classroom or lab environment, but also through a hands-on, project-based learning approach.

At the recent Engineering Industrial Awards held in conjunction with the Taylor’s Engineering Fair, the Solar Water Purifier project, an invention with revolutionary applications received top honours when it won awards in two categories: Best Engineering Design and Best Product Design Exercise Project. In total, five categories of awards were sponsored by educational and industry partners, namely the University of Melbourne, University of Birmingham, University of Warwick, University of Sheffield and Delcam PLC, a leading supplier of software product development solutions.

Taylor’s University College has launched its own Engineering degree programme. The 4-year Engineering degrees are offered in three disciplines: Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Chemical Engineering, Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering and Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering.
Students have the flexibility to complete their entire 4 years at Taylor’s, or opt to do a 2+2 years transfer to University of Birmingham (UK), University of Warwick (UK), Australian National University, University of Western Australia or University of Sheffield (1+3 years).
If you wish to find out more about Taylor’s University College you can drop by on their Campus Day on the 13th of June 2009 from 10am to 5pm. You’re invited to tour and meet the education counselors on that day. There are also attractive scholarships and bursaries available for the first intake of the Taylor’s University College Bachelor of Engineering programmes in September 2009. Log on to www.taylors.edu.my to find out more.
Imagine 19-year olds building a racing car, producing bio-diesel as alternative fuel or constructing a wind tunnel to study the effects of airflow around solid objects. Now that’s impressive, isn’t it? That’s why we titled this post “Hands On FTW”.
