Nuffnang Expands to Singapore

Things at Nuffnang have been moving very quickly since our launch two months ago. Not only have our Community of Bloggers been growing but so have our stable of advertisers and our technical team. We’ve hired some new additions to the team and we’re still looking out for more.

But of all these milestones, the one that we have all been waiting for is our launch of www.nuffnang.com.sg. As of today, that wait is over!

Nuffnang Singapore successfully launched at 3.00AM this morning.

Our team mates in the Singaporean office under Nuffnang Pte Ltd now chase the passion of building a community for bloggers there; the very same passion that Nuffnang Malaysia chases.

In time to come, you will see not only Nuffnang Blogger Events for Malaysian Bloggers but for the first time ever, combined Malaysian-Singaporean Blogger Gatherings. To those who have supported our community here, let us welcome the Singaporean Blogging Community with open arms.

Nuffnang is as of today… multinational.

We are a community… and I think it’s time we start acting like one and if there’s one thing communities do… they hang out one way or another!

Now rather than having a Bloggers’ Meet that many of us have come to love, we’ve decided to try something new.

We booked an entire cinema hall at Cineleisure for the Opening Night of Pirates of the Caribbean 3 and we’re giving away tickets to Nuffnangers FOR FREE!!!

It’s going to be one helluva night and possibly the largest blogger gathering ever held in the history of Malaysia.

There is a tiny problem though.

There are about 1,500 Nuffnangers in our community and we only have about 250 seats. So we’re going to have to find away to narrow it down by having a little fun.

To get a ticket, just write an entry with the title “Why is the rum gone?” and e-mail us the link at “pirates [@] nuffnang.com”.

You can write ANYTHING in the entry, NO LINK TO OR MENTION OF NUFFNANG IS NECESSARY. You’re NOT writing an advertorial about Nuffnang, you don’t even have to write about RUM!!!

Hurry! Tickets will be given on a first come first serve basis.

Nuffnangers that are exclusively with Nuffnang and not with any other local blog advertising network will be given preference but all Nuffnangers are welcomed to join.

One lucky Nuffnanger at the event will be going home with a 3 Day 2 Night trip to Singapore with accommodation and transport fully paid for!

The Nuffnang Community’s Reach and Coverage

When Nuffnang was conceived, our inspiration and ultimate goal was to give power to the blogosphere and go where one blogger will never be able to go alone.

That’s why we built a system that works not just to include the more prominent bloggers of the blogging scene, but also bloggers with a more modest but significant readership: those as low as 20 unique visits a day.

To cater to the mass number of blogs, everything as Nuffnang is automated.

We serve ads to not 10 or 20 blogs, but to hundreds of them all at one go starting from 12.00AM every Sunday.

Of course in the early days of Nuffnang, there were doubts with some critics arguing how we will never be able to bring any value out of the smaller blogs that have below 100 unique visitors a day.

But as bloggers ourselves, all of us at Nuffnang always knew from the start that we need the long tail of bloggers to bring blog advertising to a whole new level.

So far our strategy has paid off.

Just on the 20th April 2007 alone, the Nuffnang Community which has a membership of about 1,500 blogs served out 706,389 ad impressions in one day (though this fluctuates from day to day). This gives us an indication of the number of ad spaces we have to sell on our community.

That means in a month, we serve out approximately 21,180,000 ad impressions and with numbers like this, we are finally able to be a part of many wide-scale advertising campaigns with Bluechip Advertisers.

Being the first time that we have openly revealed our reach and coverage, we hope to once again thank the many Nuffnang bloggers for their endearing support… and most importantly, to remind everyone that “It’s not what one blogger can do, it’s what 1,000 can.”

NUFFNANG COMMUNITY UPDATE, 15th April, 2007

Dear bloggers, It has been a while since our last email to you, and boy, so many things have happened!

We are now about one and a half months old and have approximately 1300 blogs signed up! That is a stunning number!

 We are also in our fourth week of paid ads, and to date have served paid advertisments on more than 500 blogs!

That number is only set to increase, as we make breakthroughs in our negotiations with advertisers. We are also in the Top 10 most popular searches on Technorati.com.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

Like we mentioned before, expect to see household brand names amongst other advertisers coming on board in the medium term.

These are some of the developments that have taken place since the last email.

LAUNCH OF OUR REVAMPED SITE

Taking into consideration feedback from our bloggers, we launched a “face lifted” site on monday, 9th of april. It is a site designed BY BLOGGERS, for BLOGGERS. I’m sure you have seen it by now, but if you haven’t, check it out.

It’s certainly not the end of the road, and we will always look to be responsive to feedback. Good or bad.

OUR COMMUNITY INITIATIVE

A new page on our site is the “Our Community” page. In it, we explain exactly how we plan to pursue our vision of ensuring we are not just a blog advertising platform, but also a community.

A community of bloggers, united despite their diversity. Be it size, opinions or the like.

We would also like to take this opportunity to announce our first major blogger outing!!!

We have booked an entire Cinema Hall in the wondeful Cineleisure, Damansara KL, on the 24th of May, Thursday.

250 lucky bloggers will get an opportunity to catch PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 3:AT WORLD’S END, on opening night! Yes, imagine that! Not only will you be amongst the first to catch the movie in Malaysia, it’s for free!

There will also be door gifts, and special contests with attractive prizes for all those attending! I can’t wait! Can you? (Too bad I don’t get to win the prize :-p)

Promotional material with further details on how to be chosen for this event will be released soon.

LAUNCH OF CHARITY ADS

This is another community initiative. Whilst we are making money and having fun, we should always think of the less fortunate amongst us.

We brainstormed with several prominent bloggers, and they suggested running Charity Ads when you are not being served Paid Advertisments.

With our incredible network reach, this could go a very long way towards helping these charities raise funds or awareness.

As a result, we will now actively seek charities who are interested in such an initiative. Should you be a charity or involved in any such work, and know of an organisation who would be interested. Simply email us on our contact us form, and we’ll get right on it.

Of course, if as a blogger, you would rather be served default ads instead of ads for charities when you are not being served paid advertisments, we will include a function for you to “Opt Out”. This will take some time for us to set up, but with your help and suggestions, I’m sure we can find the right charities to support!

NEW FEATURES

We have also been working on adding new features to enhance your experience. We will only reveal it after we have completed our testing rounds, and are ready to launch it as beta ready.

Who won the iPod Nano for March’s Lucky Draw?

A number of bloggers have been asking us this question and we’ve been meaning to answer it but we wanted to wait and see if any bloggers would get impatient enough to bash into our office, point a gun to our heads and say
TELL ME!!!! TELL ME WHO WON!!!!“.

We waited so ten days, but it never happened (boo hoo hoo).

So oh well.. here it comes.

A Facelifted Nuffnang

All of us have been suffering from a lack of sleep lately.

Just last Saturday I found myself at the Speedzone Rave Party at KL Tower having my first 20 minutes of fun for the week only to receive an e-mail on my phone requiring me to go straight home and work. So I left my drunk friends and went on home.

Along with the rest of the Nuffnang team, we worked throughout the night, only to sleep for a few hours and wake up early Sunday morning to work again!

What have we been working on?

Everything from marketing to advertisers to adding new features on to our website.

While the rest of the things we’ve been working on are interesting, the most obvious change we’ve brought to Nuffnang (apart from this blog) is …. OUR NEW LOOK WOOOHOOO!!!

But we can never take credit for things that we never achieved on our own; just like how we never take credit for the fact that the Nuffnang Community has grown to over 1,000 blogs in slightly more than a month (all credit for that belongs to our loyal bloggers who have shown us tremendous support all this time: YOU GUYS!!!).

And now, the credit for this new Nuffnang face-lift belongs to 3 bloggers in our community.

To the 3 of you fantastic bloggers, thank you for helping us out at Nuffnang (and yes Smashpop/Jennih, we’ll help you put up our ads on your blog soon).
