Build Your Readership With Innit by Nuffnang

Dear Nuffnangers,

In the past 8 months of Nuffnang’s modest history, we have learned many many things at Nuffnang. One of which is how to efficiently use our network of blogs to drive traffic to any one website. That is something that we have in the past been doing for all our clients like Chipster, Air Asia, Nike, Nokia and many many more.

Today we would like to redefine the use of our Nuffnang network as not to only allow bloggers earning opportunities but to open up an avenue for every blogger to increase exposure of their blogs and we plan to do this using our very own Singapore-Malaysia cross-border blog aggregator we call Innit.

Innit launched as a component of Nuffnang 2.0 last week and with the generous help of many of our Nuffnangers in Malaysia and Singapore, we have spent the past week testing for bugs and making sure that Innit will be able to handle the scale that it is in for.

Today we are prepared for the official launch of Innit and as of this week, we have just launched a MASSIVE PAID blog advertising campaigns involving over 6,000 blogs in both Malaysia and Singapore all driving traffic to Innit which we will then use to drive traffic to your blog.

If you feel that your blog has fantastic content but lacks the exposure you deserve, check out our blog aggregator at http://innit.nuffnang.com

Thank you all for your support.

Best Regards,
Timothy Tiah of Nuffnang

Dear Nuffnangers,

BusinessWeek Magazine is one of the most prestigious and highly regarded magazine in the world read by business leaders from across the continents. Every year, Businessweek releases an issue of Asia’s Top Young Entrepreneurs which feature successful entrepreneurs that create waves in their respective industries all over Asia from India to China to Japan.

This year, BusinessWeek once again short-listed a list of the Top 25 Young Entrepreneurs in Asia and both Nuffnang founders Cheo Ming Shen and Timothy Tiah have had the privilege of being included in the list.

Quoting Businessweek:

This year, BusinessWeek’s annual report on Asian entrepreneurship features 25 finalists for the title of Best Young Entrepreneur in Asia. BusinessWeek readers nominated candidates and the magazine’s editors and reporters in Asia suggested names, too. We then narrowed down our list to 25 people whom we feel best represent the creativity and energy that’s now increasingly common among startups across the region. Readers can see profiles of the top 25 and vote for their favorite here.

Say Good Morning to Nuffnang 2.0

Say Good Morning to Nuffnang 2.0!

Yes, the team at Nuffnang are a cheeky lot!!!

In our most recent blog entry, we claimed Nuffnang.com would be facing downtime so we could update our servers.

Update our servers we did! Only with the brand new NN2.0!

Surprise! Good morning! And let us take you on a tour of the site.

Before I do that, let us all note that as with every new piece of software out there, NN2.0 is still in the Beta phase, and there will be bugs, so we are counting on our users to report them to us via the helpdesk.

What has changed?

OOOHHH SOOO HANDSOME!!!

The look of Nuffnang has been completely revamped. Along with our logo, it has a totally new identity. One that is cool, suave, and sophisticated.

Nuffnang.com has only been around for 10 months, and this is our 3rd facelift! We are never one to stay still, and will continue to improve on that end to keep up with the trends.

The entire site has been hard coded in CSS, so it is of global site status (No more pages breaking up).

Everybody say thank you to Firdauz for a wonderfully designed site!

Innit!!!? Our very own blog aggregator

Nuffnang 2.0 and indeed every version of Nuffnang, has always been a collaboration between bloggers and ourselves.

When we consulted some of our bloggers, over lunches, events and the like, we realised bloggers love audiences!

A blog aggregator was always one of the top on the “want list”. So we thought, “Why not!?”

With alooooot of traffic coming into Nuffnang in any given day, it provides the perfect audience for bloggers looking to increase their profile and audience.

We are not one to rest on our laurels though. Nuffnang will be launching PAID campaigns on our bloggers site to drive traffic to Nuffnang, so more people are reading your blogs.

Innit is also a “bridge” between the Malaysian and Singaporean communities, and is in line with our aims of forging a community. You can choose to read posts from both countries or you can choose to read blogs from your own country. The choice is yours. Key word: choice.

Blogger Login

Nuffnang 2.0 now has a beautiful control dock for our bloggers when they log in. Upload your photo *It will come in useful soon*

The main point of the navigation dock is that wheras in the past, you could not effectively navigate the public site without logging out. With NN2.0, you can now. So you can check details of the latest community event, and your stats, without needing to log out. Snippets of important information can also be found on the navigation dock links.

At the same time, you have now more information, in the way of a daily hourly stats report. So NN2.0 tells you how many visitors you have gotten in the past hour. When do people read your blog? What time of day?

You may also have noticed our graphical bar chart plug in which makes comprehending data alot easier.

Ajax! Ajax! Ajax!

No, not the dutch football team!

Ajax is an advanced web development technique, that is used so the entire webpage does not have to be reloaded everytime the user requests a change (Quoted from Wikipedia).

NN2.0 is full of ajax.

To enhance your experience, Ajax has been implemented extensively in nuffnang so you don’t have to wait for the page to reload.

Say for example from Analytics figures today, you click on the keywords tab. Whereas, in the past you had to wait for an entirely new page to load, now, it appears in an instant. Swanky eh. We like it too.

In almost every other page, you will see this kind of effect.

It’s in the details!

There are a whole host of other tiny details that we have improved on to make your Nuffnang experience better.

Let me cite just two of them. The first one, is the FAQ.

It has been updated to include questions we have encountered very often on the helpdesk. At the same time, if you scroll down, you will never lose the questions panel on the left. It follows the page, so you can refer to another question and navigate around easier. A small touch, but many small touches add up.

The second one, is for the new blogger who is signing up.

If you check out our registration form, in old forms, you will notice that errors are only detected once you click the submit button, at which time you find your password has been resetted.

As soon as you fill in one field of our form, and move on to the next, our form detects if everything is good.

Have a feel around to see if you can spot any other little features we have added for your convenience.

Advertiser Login

The advertiser login, has also been completely revamped.

The Nuffnang team has actually met up with the media and advertising agencies, and companies, to ask what they would want in the advertiser CMS. Having compiled their feedback, changes were incorporated.

A swanky ajax interface, with a intuitive campaign reporting system will keep our advertisers very well informed and up to date with important and real time perfomance figures.

More new featured are being added in line with their suggestions.

Our backend

Our backend has been completely revamped. It is now a beast of a machine that can deal with increased scale more rapidly,
intuitively, and efficiently.

It gives us more information as well, so that no blogger gets left behind, and advertising budgets are equitably allocated.

This is just the start!

The curent NN2.0 is just the start.

Many new features which will add further value to our Nuffnangers are in the pipeline and will be released bit by bit.

They will be new, cutting edge, but more importantly useful to you.

If you think you would like a feature very much, that other bloggers would appreciate, we welcome suggestions to our new
feedback channel, innovation@nuffnang.com

Phew. Ok that’s just half of what I wanted to say. Joking lah!

Thats all then! Take care! Please give a round of applause to our entire Nuffnang team. The technical team for giving us NN2.0 and the rest, who helped with the daily tasks, so the technical nuffies could get on with the job.

Timothy, Firdauz, Lee Meng, Raff, Nicholas, Skyler, Janice, Esther, Huiwen, Wenqi, Fayth, YAT, Vivian, Uncle Ronnie, and Auntie Molly! Thank you nuffle puffs!

Ming, Timothy, and the Nuffle Puffs!

Nuffnang Scheduled Downtime: Friday 16th November 12.00AM

Dear Nuffnangers,

On Friday morning at 12AM-1AM while most people are asleep, the team at Nuffnang will be brightly awake updating our servers. As a result of these updates, we are scheduling a server downtime between 12.00AM-1.00AM on Friday morning for both our Malaysian and Singaporean servers.

So if you can’t access the Nuffnang website, or if your ads stop showing during this time, please don’t freak out or call the cops on us. It’s just something we all have to do to keep our website working fast and efficiently.

Everything will be back to normal by the time you get out of bed on Friday.

Until then, have a great week ahead everyone!

-Timothy Tiah of Nuffnang
