Press Screenings for Glitterati Nuffnangers

As Nuffnang continues to grow, our role of bringing bloggers together is widely recognized by all sectors. Bloggers in Malaysia are now acknowledged for their expressive selves.

‘Cause of this, the film industry in Malaysia have issued press screenings for bloggers from time to time. Among some of the movies that bloggers had been given press screenings were Ratatouille and Vantage Point.

What is Press Screening?

It’s a special movie screening held before the release date of the movie. The screening is usually exclusive for the press only. Invited personnels are usually given press kits, poster of the movie, drinks and snacks and watch the movie for free. It is done this way in order to pitch publicity from the press.

We normally send these invitations to random Glitterati bloggers but due to the massive amount of time taken to select them, we will now open up a registration list for bloggers who would like to receive Press Screening Invitations from Nuffnang. Before you start writing in to have your name in our list, please be notified that Press Screenings are usually;

  • Held in the morning (10am).
  • Held on weekdays.
  • Held at Midvalley Megamall, Kuala Lumpur.
  • Held a few days after the invitations have been sent out.

Please ensure that you’re able to attend Press Screenings based on the above stipulations before you write in to us in order to ensure other bloggers have a chance to attend Press Screenings as well. We currently have 10 Invitations for the Press Screening of ‘Death Note 3 - L Change the World’ on 26th of March 2008. These invitations will be given out for the first 10 Glitterati bloggers to write in to us.

Death Note 3

If you’re interested to receive invitations for Press Screenings, please write in an email titled “I Would Like to Receive an Invitation to Press Screenings” to robb.chew@nuffnang.com. Please do include your contact number and blog URL in the email.

Please do not be disappointed if you don’t get selected for this Press Screening as we always have these invitations to give out to our loyal bloggers. It is our way to say thank you for supporting Nuffnang.

Cheers,
Robb

Nuffnang 1st Birthday Bash a.k.a. Pajama Party

Incoming mails to request for invitations to the Nuffnang Birthday Bash a.k.a. Pajama Party never stopped till the day itself. Invited guests and bloggers came as early as 5.45 p.m. as they can’t contain their excitement to party in their pajamas.

Registration for our party was not the same like any other. We had Nuffies taking care of the registration booth. Who are Nuffies you ask?

A policewoman, French maid and nurse taking care of your needs during registration. The policewoman was there to ensure that no one misbehave while registering, the French maid to keep things tidy and the nurse to take care of anyone who’s feeling a little under the weather. Some of the bloggers who misbehaved was literally spanked by the policewoman. Of course, the presence of such wonderful caretakers won’t go without noted by bloggers who wasted no time to take pictures with them.

A Pajama Party would be meaningless if there’s no one wearing Pajama right? We used to think that Malaysians are a little conservative in taking part in costume parties. But we were DEAD wrong.

These guys were literally yawning all the way into the party with their pajamas. By passers who see them would definitely think they’re heading to bed.Not only were people coming in with the regular pajamas, some even came with the local flavor! Kain songket!

Okay, everyone was trying to look their best in their sleeping outfit. Accessory was mandatory! There were so many cuddly toys all over the place that at times we thought we were organizing a kindergarten outing.

Pajama checked. Cuddly toy/Bantal bucuk checked. Is there anymore accessory to the sleeping outfit? Oh wait, what are you wearing on your feet?

Oh wait a second. I thought this was a Pajama Party. How come Optimus Prime showed up?

Over 300 bloggers from all over Malaysia and Singapore attended our Pajama Party last night. Among them are our homeboy, Kenny Sia.

Then we have celebrity bloggers from Singapore, Dawn Yang and XiaXue.

Nuffnang Pajama Party would definitely be impossible without the support from Chipster who’s the title sponsor for the entire event. Thus, those who were partying with us last night did not have to worry of running out of Chipsters as there were aplenty.

Once all our guests have arrived, our party kicked off. All eyes were on Ming and Tim.

Ming and Tim took turns to welcome everyone who was there. When the microphone was passed to Tim, he had his hands full as his other hand is holding on to his bantal bucuk.

After the speech, Liang, our emcee conducted an ice-breaker game for the party to help bloggers from Malaysia and Singapore get to know each other better. Winners of the game were given prizes. At one point, there was a tie between two lads. And when it’s a tie between 2 men, it’s only fair that a competition of physical strength should be next. They had to outdo the other by doing push-ups with a Nuffie on their back.

After the ice breaking session, dinner was served. Bloggers and our invited guests helped themselves with the generous amount of food served by Borneo Baruk Club.

People were definitely enjoying themselves in the party as we caught them cheerfully dancing around the line of the buffet table.

The entire night was filled with games with attractive prizes to be won. Some of the things that participants had to do to win prizes were thumb wrestling,..

.. and imitating a pose from one of the finalists of Malaysian Dream Girl

We gave out the prizes to our winners who wrote the post themed “I Sleep Better With Chipster” on the night as well. David Lian won the Quirkiest Post award and landed on a brand new Nintendo Wii for his creativity in making a pajama out of Chipster packs.

Valerie from Singapore won an iPod Touch for having the best pajama in her blog post. All hail the Chipster Girl!

The grand prize winner was Johnathan from Penang who won an Apple Macbook for having the most number of actual Chipster packs in one photo. The number of Chipster packs he used for that photo was 400! A well deserved win.

It was a night of rewards for everyone as the Nuffnang staffs got something for the two bosses, Ming and Tim. Brand new underwears! And due to the pressure from the emcee and the floor, they had to put them on right away!

Panasonic gave out Lumix Cameras as prizes to the winners of the ‘Lumix Bidding Game’. The high bidders were the champion thumb wrestlers.

Kenny Sia stepped in as well to pose and promote the Lumix Cameras. Among his favorite pose - Furong Jie Jie’s Pose.

It was a night of joy and laughter for most of us. The party would not have been possible without Su Ann a.k.a. Pinkpau as she was the Event Coordinator for the party. We thank her from the bottom of our heart for helping us organize such a grand event.

We would also like to thank Chipster, for being our title sponsor, Borneo Baruk Club for providing us the venue, Panasonic, Tune Hotels and Kid Chan Studio for being our official photographer for the event. Not forgetting the bloggers and advertisers from Malaysia and Singapore who have gave tremendous support to Nuffnang, without all of you, we would not be where we are today. Thank you very much.Happy Birthday Nuffnang!

Here are some videos from some of our bloggers wishing Nuffnang a Happy Birthday. We hope you would enjoy it as much as we did.

If you’re looking for pictures of our Nuffnang Pajama Party to put on your blog, please click here. Credits to Kid Chan Studio, our Official Photographer for the night.

Nuffnang Community Update - 14th March 2008

Nuffnang Community Update – 13th March 2008

Dear Nuffnangers,

Here are some quick updates on our Community.

Cheques and More Cheques

Every month Nuffnang sends out over 300 cheques to bloggers for the earnings they get from their blogs.

Early this month we sent out another batch and we understand many bloggers have already received their cheques.

All Glitterati members who cashed out before the end of January should have already received their cheques. If you are a Nuffnang Glitterati and have not yet received your cheque from your January cashout please drop us an e-mail via our Helpdesk so we can investigate.

Nuffnanger in Malaysian Dreamgirl.

We just got word that one of our fellow Nuffnangers, blogger Ringo Tan of Cheeserland.com made it to one of the Top 12 participants for MalaysianDreamgirl. GOoooo RINGO!!!

Nuffnang Birthday Bash This Weekend

To those of you who are going for our Nuffnang Birthday Bash this weekend, don’t be shy and remember to say “HI” when you see any of us from the Nuffnang Team. The party is themed Pajamas but if you don’t feel comfortable going with PJs then you don’t have to. The party starts at 6.00PM and ends at 10.00PM so don’t be late. If you still haven’t had enough mingling even after the party, feel free to join some of us heading over to Plaza Mont’ Kiara for the Guinness St Patrick’s Day celebration.

The weekend ahead is going to be a very fun and happy one. Perhaps one that some of our Nuffnangers could use for their Happy Moments contest.

Get Featured in the Sun Newspapers

Dear Nuffnangers,

As many of you know, part of our community initiatives is to bring exposure to our low traffic blogs, allowing them to build their readership. Our latest initiative is a collaboration with Canon.

To break down the details.

What Selected Nuffnangers Will Get:

Bloggers would get themselves and their blog site advertised in The Sun newspaper. If you refer to the attached tentative advertorial layout, they will occupy approximately 17cm by 4 col which is valued at RM 7,296. It would appear after the Entertainment section. The Sun is a very strong paper catered to urban households and its readership has been climbing tremendously.

The Catch

All you have to do when selected is to blog about a creative and fun use of a Selphy printer. The printer will be loaned to you for a week to explore and come up with ideas on how a Selphy printer can be useful to you in your every day life.

We only have 12 slots available for 12 Nuffnangers so if you’re interested please drop us an e-mail via our Helpdesk and we’ll try to include you in as one of the 12. Note that this is only open to Nuffnang Glitterati.

Good luck Nuffnangers!

Malaysian Dreamgirl Goes Live

Dear Nuffnangers

Malaysian Dreamgirl is a new web-based reality-TV show set out to find the next Top Model in Malaysia. As one of their Media Partners, Nuffnang as a Community has engaged a number of our bloggers to be involved in the TV Show. Celebrity Blogger Kenny Sia for example is one of the judges of the show and bloggers Pink Pau and Shaolintiger have been engaged as official bloggers to cover the show.

In order to allow more bloggers the opportunity to be involved one way or another, we’ve worked together with Malaysian Dreamgirl to come up with a Contest where bloggers who watch the show can write about it to share their opinions (good or bad), and send it in. The Best 11 entries every week will stand a chance to win prizes. Check out the contest details here.

In any case, we hope you guys enjoy the show. We relish this first opportunity for the blogging community to be engaged in a Reality-TV show.

Malaysian Dreamgirl has just released their first episode today. You can catch it here.

New Features on Nuffnang

Dear Nuffnangers,

Behind the scenes, we have always constantly been working on making new improvements and bringing new features to Nuffnang. We don’t always shout about it to the extent that sometimes we find many of our Nuffnangers aren’t aware of such features we’ve added. Hence the reason behind this update.

Innit

3 months after Innit was launched, we’re very very happy to hear that many of our bloggers have gained new readers through Innit like this one here.

Over the past month, we’ve enhanced Innit to greater heights. Most of you might have noticed the Dang it and Nang it feature and many of you have had your share on recommending top notch posts to other Nuffnangers. We now acknowledge these brave gatekeepers for suggesting good posts to our community to read and danging the bad ones as well by showing who Nang’ed or Dang’ed a post.

Who Reads Your Blog Feature

If you think you have a secret admirer in our Nuffnang community, you can now grab him/her out of the closet. Look for the Community tab on your sidebar after you login to your Nuffnang account and voila~ you can see the thumbnails of the Nuffnangers who’ve viewed your blog recently. (Under your profile there is also a privacy function to turn this off if you don’t want other Nuffnangers to know that you’re reading their blogs).

These are just some of the enhancements we’re bringing to the Nuffnang community. We plan to bring many more great features to our blogging community as a way to say thank you for supporting us.

Cheers
Robb
