Nuffnang Friso Family Day Out

Posted by Robb on Dec 4th, 2008

Blogging in Malaysia has been widely generalized to be either an activity for youths or politicians. The truth of blogging is far from this as there exist many types of other bloggers. From its humble beginning as mere online diaries to record one’s daily routine and experiences, blogs have become a platform for intellectual exchanges, discussions and information. And this is where parent bloggers come in. Parent bloggers are made up of a community of savvy parents, new parents and of course, parents-to-be.

Family is an important part of everyone of us in the community. However, due to our never ending rat race, many of us who live in the big cities tend to concentrate too much on what we do and might have not spend sufficient time with our families. Thus, what better way to bring families together by having a Family Day Out where parents get to spend time with their kids to nurture their growth.

Nuffnang and Friso realized how important families and parent bloggers are to our tech savvy community and had decided to come together for an event that parents will not forget. That’s when the idea of Nuffnang Friso Family Day Out was hatched.

On the 29th of November 2008, about 120 parent bloggers with their children attended the Nuffnang Friso Family Day Out. Joined by other invited families, they arrived as early as 9.30am at Kizsports & Gym, One Utama with smiles and high expectations of the event. Being bloggers in nature, they wasted no time to pose for the cameras upon registration.

It was also easy to tell bloggers’ children apart.

Once the families check in, the children were free to play in the Playland and the amount of smiles and laughter we saw on the day were priceless to their parents and to us as the organizers.

Once the place started to fill up, the official games took place. Parents and their children took part together in various games and activities as there were Dutch Lady hampers up for grabs for the winners.

Among the activities that took place were limbo rock for the children,

Bubble games,

Coloring contest and many more.

While the children were having fun, the parents had activities lined up for them too. Evon Tan, the nutritionist from Dutch Lady held a short talk with the parents.

That’s not all as Chan Lilian was also present to share her own parenting experience as she’s a mother of five. Many of the parents felt connected as most topics shared can be related to easily in their own context.

Lunch was served about half past noon where a variety of healthy food were served along with health drinks such as Joy Juice, Iced Latte, Dutch Lady UHT milk and Friso 3 & 4 for the children.

The kids are treated to an exquisite lunch as they have their very own lunch room! Every child was given a fair share of food and drinks and they sure were happy eating while playing with newfound friends.

After lunch, the parents and children were entertained by a Magic Show by Mr Banana the magician. Kids and adults laughed and gasped as his tricks amazed them again and again.

The prize giving ceremony saw many parents and children walking home with a big smile. 30 hampers worth RM100 from Dutch Lady were given out to winners of various games and contests on the day itself.

10 MPH vouchers worth RM100 were also given to the 10 best written pre-event blog posts by bloggers courtesy of Friso.

And for the grand prize, Kheirul Hisyam won his family a 3 Days/2 Nights trip to Hong Kong Disneyland thanks to Friso. Congratulations! Check out his winning blog post here.

We would like to thank Friso for their support as without Friso, this event wouldn’t even be possible at the first place. We would also like to thank Kizsports & Gym for hosting us, families who attended and our dearest bloggers for participating. All in all, parents and children enjoyed themselves very much during the event and so did we when we saw the smiles on everyone. It was an event like no other and we look forward for more events for parent bloggers in the future.

But before we go too far in the future, there’s still one more Grand Prize up for grabs which is a Sony 32″ LCD TV for the best post event blog post on Nuffnang Friso Family Day Out. Send in your entries to FamilyDayOut@nuffnang.com by 12th of December 2008 and you might just win a new Sony LCD TV for your family!
