Recently our newly appointed Minister of Information, Communication and Culture Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim urged bloggers to act and write in a responsible manners. He said bloggers who twist the truth shall face music and be held accountable. We’re sure many Nuffnangers are now on guard and wish to seek more knowledge about legal rights and responsibilities as a blogger. Bloggers should be aware of laws governing bloggersphere, especially, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission Act 1998 (MCMC Act) and the relevant rules and guidelines of MCMC, laws relating to copyrights issues and defamation laws.

After successfully organizing the eLawyer Blogging & Law Conference in March 2009 at University of Malaya, KL, many bloggers are more aware of their rights and responsibilities as a blogger. The people from eLawyer has then received many feedback from the Penang bloggers requesting them to organize a similar event on the island.

Well, guess what Penangites? You’ve got your wish as eLawyer is bringing you eLawyer – Exabytes Penang Bloggers & Law Forum 2009 in Penang on 27 June 2009.
