Kenny Sia

Nuffnang Featured Blogger for the month of June

Hey guys, my name is Kenny Sia, and I am your Nuffnang Featured Blogger for the month of June.

This is my photo.

Yea I know it ain’t exactly Men’s Health cover model, but heck, being a Nuffnang Featured Blogger is still cool ok?!

My blog is located at kennysia.com. I registered that domain on the 1st January 2005 - back when I was still living in Perth, happily attached to my then-girlfriend and earning a comfortable salary as a software engineer. Unfortunately, things took a really bad turn for me then.

After realising that I would be going through a series of significant changes in my life, I took it upon myself to hop on the blogging bandwagon. Initially I wanted to do a technology blog much like the 1,925 copy-and-paste blogs out there, but I decided against that and chose to use kennysia.com as a means to document my life, and also to keep in touch with my friends from near and afar.

My style of blogging is best described as photo-blogging. Usually, I emphasize on using pictures to get my point across rather than using words. You might think that I’m being creative for doing that, but actually it’s just that I really suck at writing.

Somehow though, I still managed to develop a steady readership on kennysia.com. Among some of my more memorable blog entries in the past are:

A vibrating condom review.

3

An April’s Fool parody on some famous bloggers.

4

My response to fellow Nuffnanger Xiaxue on her marriage proposal.

5

Our very long road names in Kuching.

6

My experience with an anal-rententive officer at Singapore’s MRT station.

7

A parody on the ridiculous OSIM uZap advertisements.

8

My attempt to write a bimbo blog.

9

My instructions on how to make your own FIFA World Cup football.

10

And most recently, my review on the absurdly expensive automatic public toilets at Bukit Bintang.

Right now, I mainly blog about the quirks, the unusuals and the reality of the world around us. I also enjoy travelling immensely and my blog has served me as a travellouge of sorts.

It has been more than 2 years since I posted my first blog entry, and to be honest, I am pleasantly surprised that a lot of people actually take time to read the crap that I wrote. Since returning to Malaysia, I have made uncountable contacts and forged numerous strong friendships through people I’ve met via kennysia.com.

It is absolutely not an understatement to say that blogging has been a life-changing experience for me. What started out as an online diary and a hobby ended up becoming a vehicle for social networking and interaction. And now, with the help of Nuffnang, kennysia.com could potentially become a respectable side-income earner for me.

I hope it does the same for you too!

Well that’s about it from me, enjoy Nuffnang and do sign up!
