I am Nicole Tan, or more commonly known as Nicolekiss in the blogosphere – a 24 year-old wild and passionate globe trotter that seems to be everywhere but her own country.
Laos – Pha That Luang
Nicolekiss.blogspot.com is my humble little blog that documents my world conquest as early as Oct 2006.
Why a name as tacky as Nicolekiss?
Well, rumor has it that I’m a great kisser.
Nah, I’m pulling your legs. (That’s a grasshopper I was about to eat btw)
The name was actually inspired by the chocolate Hershey Kiss, which best represents my one true love – chocolate. It was said that when the machine squirts out the chocolate, it looks as though it was kissing the conveyer belt. So I have always envisioned myself planting “kisses” (landmarks) in every destination I travel to.
Now I can tell you a thousand things about myself but that would kill the suspense between you and me. *wink*
But here’s a little summary anyhow…. (try not to sleep)
I love photography…
Of myself.
I love traveling…
But can only afford backpacker’s inn.
And I love dessert wine…
My favorite past time is to sit at home with a good book over some classical music and a bottle of Moscato d’Asti.
I have a mission in life, a mission that will change my life forever, or a mission that will be my life, and that is to travel the world.
I started my solo backpack expeditions at the age of 20, barely legal, going through countries in Western Europe and found passion in traveling ever since. So far I have been to (Western Europe aside) Indo-China, China, Korea, Japan, Indonesia and USA; with many more to come.
I’ve done some wild things during these travels.
Celebrating Water Festival in Chiangmai, Thailand.
Some are fun and spontaneous.
Like taking up diving lesson in Sipadan, Sabah
Some unforgettable.
Swimming in KuangSi waterfall in Laos
Some are crazy and dangerous.
Trust me, you have not seen danger till you’ve tried cycling in Hanoi, Vietnam.
Some WTF.
Playing hide-and-seek with myself in Angkor Wat, Cambodia. Wtf indeed.
Some are gross.
This is a duck fetus egg. Yes, I ate it.
Some are stupid, like.. really stupid.
Dozed off in a taxi in Tokyo, Japan. It’s. Really. Expensive.
And some I-dunno-what-the-hell-was-I-thinking things.
Travel by bus from KL to Phnom Phnem, Cambodia
Sometimes, I do dumb things even when I’m not traveling. Like an attempt to finish the largest shaker fries ever made.
I don’t know what drives me to travel the way I do and do the things I did. But I do believe that if you can’t live life to the fullest, why live at all?
